"First, I was impressed by how Dr. Melton explained everything to me about my hearing test and the type of hearing aids available to me. I was shown how to determine what hearing aids would best meet my needs. Then a mold of the ear canal was made to fit into my ears. After I received my hearing aids, I was amazed at the sounds that I had been missing since my hearing loss. I have been working with computers for 27 years and was amazed when I used the scroll wheel on the mouse — I didn’t know that it made a noise! I’ve been going to Dr. Karen for several years- she keeps my hearing aids clean (no charge), keeps me in batteries (no charge), and keeps them adjusted. "Apparently I always took the sense of hearing for granted until April 9, 2011, when suddenly the world around me became silent — almost as if someone had hit the 'mute' button on a remote control. After seeking medical help, it was concluded that a virus had caused damage to my hearing, and I was referred to Dr. Karen Melton at Audiology & Hearing Center for tests. With her highly-skilled professional training and computerized equipment, she was able to determine the hearing loss level and equip me with hearing devices that are not only easy to use but also comfortable and attractive to wear. I am in the process of learning how to make the devices work to the fullest advantage to give me a broader range of hearing. Dr. Melton and her staff have been able to answer questions and provide guidance and assistance throughout this process. How wonderful it is to have sound back in my world, and being able to hear my little granddaughters say, “I love you, Grandma,” on the telephone without using the speaker phone is PRICELESS!"
