Dr. Mariah VanHoose joined our team in July 2017 as an audiology resident. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in communication sciences and disorders from Truman State University in May 2014 and her Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) degree from the University of Illinois in May 2018.
From her hometown of Perry, Illinois, to where she currently resides in Kirksville, Missouri, providing hearing health care to small, rural areas is something Dr. VanHoose feels strongly about. Her expertise lies in hearing aid fitting for all ages, adult cochlear implant programming, and tinnitus management.
Hearing loss has been genetically passed down through Dr. VanHoose’s immediate family, so she is proficient in American Sign Language. Her passion for audiology sparks from her experience of growing up in a deaf family. In particular, the most inspirational moment for her was when her youngest sister came home from the audiologist at 2 years old with not only her first pair of sparkly, pink hearing aids but also a noticeably more outgoing personality, given her newfound access to the hearing world.
When not in the office, Dr. VanHoose can be found out at the farm with her favorite pups, riding four-wheelers with her family.
